Rochester Man Found not Guilty of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in Supreme Court
On February 2, 2024, Our client DT, was found Not Guilty of Criminal Possession of a Weapon (Firearm/Gun) after a week long jury trial in Rochester NY Supreme Court.
Our client was pulled over by police during a traffic stop. As a result, the police claimed they found a loaded gun in the backseat of the car our client was operating. If convicted, our client was facing a life sentence.
Forensic testing of that weapon concluded that it was likely that our client had deposited his DNA on the weapon; the odds that it was someone else's DNA were more than one in one hundred trillion.
We were able to show the jury that the Police's version of events wasn't what they said it was. Ultimately that was enough for the jury to decide.
We fought hard, we didn't back down... the jury found our client not guilty after just two hours of deliberations. Call us if you've been accused of a crime.
When facing allegations of this magnitude, especially gun charges in New York, you must understand that retaining an experienced defense attorney is extremely important to the outcome of your case. Evidence that may seem insurmountable may not hold up under the analysis of an experienced attorney. If you are facing a serious allegation, be sure to do your homework on who you choose to represent you in court. As we see in this example, it could be the difference between life in prison, or being found not guilty.
